Already established in my career, I chose to return to the academic setting in Autumn 2024 to pursue a field better aligned with my passions and value system. Although most of my background is in the fine arts space, working mostly with pencil and ink mediums, I have found the transition into digital creative spaces both stimulating and rewarding. While I have not had the opportunity to participate in design projects before attending OSU, my experience working for a local medical practice as an Executive Assistant for six years has given me unique project management, organization, and problem-solving skills that translate seamlessly into design. I have been able to use these skills to balance multiple projects simultaneously and plan out timelines for completing each assignment and module. This has been especially helpful in my design studios as I balance multiple, detailed projects.

My work is often influenced by my deep connection with family and my love for literature, as I spend much of my time investing in my familial relationships and exploring a wide range of written mediums. I have spent much of my life writing, working mainly in poetry and lyric form, and have enjoyed incorporating my literary work into design projects.

While I enjoy the project management and problem-solving work of an EA, a desire for work that is both organizational and highly creative is what brought me to the design field. I am passionate about meeting both the physical and aesthetic needs of others as well as the emotional and spiritual, and I think design is the perfect combination of those elements. Design, to me, seems to offer the opportunity to address real world issues and solve tangible problems for a wide range of groups and individuals. I am deeply interested in participating in projects that challenge our current conception of sustainability, longevity, and usability, and hope to generate effectual solutions to real-world problems. Being a part of a sector that is actively working to improve the human experience excites me and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to become an influential part of the design world.
